Heart disease stands as the leading cause of premature death in Malaysia, accounting for 18.4% of medically certified deaths in 2022. Premature deaths are defined as those occurring between the ages of 30 and 69, which is below Malaysia's average life expectancy of around 75 years. In 2022, there were 95,266 deaths in this age group, according to the Statistics on Causes of Death Malaysia 2023 report by the Department of Statistics Malaysia.
